Indeterminate Analyticity

چکیده
W. V. Quine is commonly read as holding that there are no analytic truths and a priori truths. I argue this misreading. Quine’s view sentence determinately or priori. show my reading better supported by arguments general remarks about meaning analyticity. then briefly reexamine the debate between Carnap analyticity, nature of their disagreement different than what it usually thought to be.

Quaternionic analyticity
~omplex analyticity is generalized to hypercomplex functions, quaternion or octonion, in such a manner that it’ includes the standard complex definition and does not reduce analytic functions to a trivial class. A brief comparison with other definitions is presented. @ 2003 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. Keywords-&uaternions, Analytic functions, Differential operators.
متن کاملRepresentational Analyticity
The traditional understanding of analyticity in terms of concept containment is revisited, but with a concept explicitly understood as a certain kind of mental representation and containment being read correspondingly literally. The resulting conception of analyticity avoids much of the vagueness associated with attempts to explicate analyticity in terms of synonymy by moving the locus of discu...
متن کاملIndeterminate Truth
Can a truth-bearer be true but not determinately so? On the enduringly popular standard supervaluational conception of indeterminacy, under which the principle of bivalence is invalid, the answer is a straightforward No. On such a conception, truth just is determinate truth—truth in all admissible interpretations. For that reason, a more interesting question is: can a truth-bearer be true but n...
متن کاملTesting Analyticity on Circles
Globevnik [G] answered the question in the affirmative for rotation invariant families. Agranovsky and Globevnik [AG] resolved the question for families of circles when f is a rational or real-analytic functions of two real variables. Ehrenpreis [E2] independently found solution for the circles of constant radii with centers on a line and real-analytic functions. In [T] we obtain the affirmativ...
متن کاملAnalyticity in Hubbard Models
Abstract. The Hubbard model describes a lattice system of quantum particles with local (on-site) interactions. Its free energy is analytic when βt is small, or βt/U is small; here, β is the inverse temperature, U the on-site repulsion and t the hopping coefficient. For more general models with Hamiltonian H = V +T where V involves local terms only, the free energy is analytic when β‖T ‖ is smal...
